There is also world class shopping, numerous local country stores and farmer’s markets, historic landmarks, and variety of dining options to satisfy everyone’s tastes. If you prefer to get takeout we have numerous sitting areas on our property to eat your meal.

The Battenkill River offers many opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, tubing and fishing. Golfing is a favorite summer sport , and mountain biking is fun, too. Take the perfect hike through the lovely Equinox Preserve. Horseback trail rides are just minutes away. Swim in the crystal clear waters of Emerald Lake, Lake Shaftsbury or Lake St. Catherine.
Bromley’s Thrill Zone, complete with Alpine Slide, has been entertaining area guests for years, as well as special events, golfing and tennis at Stratton Mountain. Special events are plentiful, including polo matches, The Vermont Summer Festival Equestrian Horse Show, Race for the Cure, car shows, craft fairs and more.

Snowshoe and snowmobile trails are plentiful in the Manchester area. You may also enjoy a horse drawn Sleigh Ride.
A time when trout season opens, with excellent fishing on the Battenkill and Mettawee Rivers, as well as Otter Creek. Fly fishing lessons are offered in the area.

Today the VRS operates over 400 miles of track via the https://vrs.us.com/, Washington County Railroad Connecticut River Division, Washington County Railroad Montpelier & Barre Division, New York and Ogdensburg Railroad, Clarendon & Pittsford Railroad, New England Southern Railroad, and the Vermont Railway. The company now has a family of over 150 dedicated railroaders. The VRS operates passenger services under the Green Mountain Railroad, running seasonal excursions and dinner trains. The VRS hauls over 25,000 freight cars each year, with nearly 90% of traffic serving Vermont businesses.

The Chester Snowmobile Club and its members are very active in promoting safe snowmobiling in our state. We continue to improve our trail system every year with not only wider and smoother trails but we also work to improve relationships with the landowners whose land our trails are built on. We will continue to search for ways to thank these landowners as if it where not for them snowmobiling in Vermont would be non-existent. Please when you see or meet a landowner, thank them for allowing you to snowmobile on their property.
